Tesla China EV Sales Rebound in September Amid Model Y Demand Surge
Tesla's China-made electric vehicle sales climbed 2.8% year-over-year in September, halting a two-month slump with 90,812 units delivered. The rebound was fueled by strong uptake of the new six-seater Model Y SUV in the Chinese market.
European markets mirrored the recovery, with France and Denmark posting their first sales increases of 2025 following the refreshed Model Y launch. Shanghai factory output ROSE 9.2% month-over-month, while inaugural shipments to India contributed to growth.
The automaker delivered 241,890 China-produced EVs in Q3 - its fourth-highest quarterly total - as global deliveries exceeded expectations. Buyers appear to be front-loading purchases ahead of anticipated price adjustments.
